How Skilled Is Your Virtual Assistant?

in Lifestyle Freedom

sendyourva_logo_medI love being able to send projects to my virtual assistants without going into the detail of how to do them. They know exactly what tools to use or where to find what they need.

Unfortunately, not all VAs are that resourceful. In fact, most just have their basic training and never go on learning other more specialized tools their market wants.

In addition to basic tools of the trade every virtual assistant should know, here are the 7 other tools I asked my VAs to learn to support me:

  • 1ShoppingCart.com
  • InstantTeleseminar.com
  • Aweber.com
  • GotVmail.com
  • Rentacoder.com
  • Surveymonkey.com
  • Instantaudio.com

Other skills every virtual assistant should offer to coaches and entrepreneurs in the knowledge-marketing business include:

  • web design
  • power points
  • PDF creator
  • e-mail
  • blogs
  • audio/video capturing tools
  • screen video capturing tools

Plus, any tools that would allow them to help you with marketing:

  • article submission
  • video submission
  • basic search engine optimization
  • press releases
  • newsletter publishing
  • affiliate programs
  • autoresponders

Unfortunately, most VAs come out of their basic training and never upgrade their skills. Is your virtual assistant skilled enough to support you at ALL levels of your business growth? Is she or he charging you for the learning curve while they learn the tool?

All 3 of my VAs invest in themselves: they take classes, sign-up for courses, buy software, and sign-up for other continued education programs. Basic training is great, but simply not enough. My favorite source of VAs has been AssistU.com – they offer the most comprehensive training and graduate the most skilled devoted professionals.

If you feel like your virtual assistant is a keeper and you want to invest in upgrading her skills, check out Send Your VA to School – a program I did about a year ago when my clients kept complaining about their virtual assistants. Feedback has been truly amazing turning participants into the most resourceful virtual assistants my clients ever worked with. (I continue to refer my customers and clients to the graduates of this online-training program).

Great Post. VA’s can be a resourceful tool when they are trained correctly.
