Whether you’re just starting out or need your web site updated, you need to find someone who can do it for you. Unless you’re comfortable working on a web site yourself, it’s easier just to have someone else do it than spend days or weeks trying to figure it out.
Most business owners turn to the expensive-and-slow-to-respond local help that they find in desperation because they’ve waited too long until it needs done. There are other options for those starting out in their coaching business to consider. Posting a job on an online website will allow you to connect with people who are willing to work for less money and will respond very quickly (sometimes overnight) to get the work done for you.
The only requirement to working with someone like this is that you be a little more prepared. Check to see if you’re ready based on the following:
1. Know what you want. Don’t just decide you need to get on the web and then hire someone. There is a lot of prep work that needs to be put in place in order to lay the groundwork for your website. If you want a website, first mindmap what you want to say to your prospect, what pages you want included, if you want to be able to update it yourself, or have a blog, etc. It’s always helpful to lay out your design with paper and pencil. Then, take the time to write each page of your website, or hire a copywriter to help you say what you want to your potential client.
2. Decide on a budget. Knowing how much you can afford is key. Too many coaches spend way more on their website than they make in two months income. No matter how small the amount, decide what you can afford and then seek someone who will do it for that price — you may be surprised to find them.
3. Do your homework. Research websites online that others recommend to find someone who can help you do the job. Spend time setting up an account and familiarize yourself with the rules and procedures.
4. Post the job. Once you’ve done all the prep work, you will be more than ready to ask someone to put it online for you and you will be pleasantly surprised at all the people who are ready to work with you. Don’t feel that you need to find them, let them find you.
It is sometimes necessary to hire someone to do work for you, but that does not mean that you are forced to work with someone you’ve met locally. I’ve seen coaches time and again be stopped by technology because they weren’t sure who could do the job, and felt it was far too expensive for them to get it done. Think of all the money lost because of the delayed decision of not taking this action today.
