If you’re like so many of the brilliant coaches I’ve met over the years, you have incredible stories to tell, you may have some great ideas for products, unique industries you’ve worked in, or hobbies or interests that could catapult your coaching practice into the next level of success.
And yet, when so many coaches market their services, or put themselves online, or go to write an e-book or create their first product — they virtually “disappear!” They write about themselves and their interests in such a bland, general way, it’s difficult for clients to know why this coach is different or unique from every other coach!
That’s why I suggest to all coaches: take a strong point of view, pick a niche, speak to that niche and solve that group’s most painful problems!
Today I have one of the best examples I’ve seen of this. These two women provide a great example of a perfect match of painful client problem with perfect solution.
Jane and Blair started a business together to help prevent girls bullying problems. They created an excellent product series called “When Girls Hurt Girls” and I was thrilled to discover them.
First of all, I have a 9-year old girl so it’s relevant to me on a personal level! But also from a business perspective. Jane and Blair are very smart: they’re marketing these products not only to parents of girls, but also to educators, girl scouts, sports teams, and many other group leaders where girl problems happen. And they didn’t just created one product – they created a whole line of products for different age groups, different situations, and different formats. They’re also giving away a free workshop as part of their marketing.
I am telling you, they’re just one step away from being on the Oprah show! You can actually hear the entire interview I did with them by downloading the mp3 recording below. Enjoy!

Quick lesson for coaches: even though Blair is a trained and certified coach, you WON’T find any information about coaching, or how it’s different from mentoring and counseling, or how coaching works, and so on. The web site simply offers a solution to a specific problem, and positions Jane and Blair as the experts on this subject. BRILLIANT!
